Baked Omelette: Perfect Family Meal

July 4, 2013

Kids love to help out in the kitchen when parents give them the opportunity. Sara of SensiblySara, brings this experience to life each Friday. Sara and her boys cook up meals weekly and share them for everyone to enjoy. Sara shared a baked omelette recipe that her son Colin helped her cook up. These yummy omelettes contained green onions, red bell peppers, green bell pepeers, feta cheese, cottage cheese, bacon (yes, bacon), eight eggs (of course) with salt and pepper.

Another fun way to involve your kids in the making of omelettes, is to raise chickens yourself and let your kids gather the eggs. Kids and chickens are a fantastic combination. Kids love chickens, and lets face it;  parents love it when kids can pitch in with a meal or two.  Eggs are relatively easy to cook up and with a little help from Mom or Dad, egg dishes are simple to whip up.

Sara and her boys like to experiment with new foods and I have no doubt that eggs will be on her Kids In The Kitchen feature again sometime soon. Eggs are easy to use and make for a fun experience in the kitchen. Urban chickens are also becoming very popular in many urban areas around the country. Has your community embraced urban chickens? If so, are you partaking in the fun?

We’d love to hear about your experiences when it comes to involving your kids in the kitchen. If you have any tasty egg dishes, we’d love to hear about them. We have a fun board on Pinterest dedicated to Kids and Chickens- Which Pin is your favorite?
